The entire public notice can be viewed by clicking the link above.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\nUPDATE: On August 1, 2016, the Nassau County Legislature approved a real estate tax exemption on the New Moxey Rigby Apartment Community Property.<\/strong><\/em>\r\n\r\nWhen Superstorm Sandy hit Freeport in October 2012, the Moxey A. Rigby Apartment Complex suffered significant damage, almost to the point of no return. Substantial flooding in the basements affected the mechanical\/electrical and heating systems. Without heat, electric, or generators, many tenants were displaced for close to a month.\r\n\r\nWith help from the Governor\u2019s Office of Storm Recovery, FEMA, New York State Home and Community Renewal, Nassau County and the Village of Freeport, a brand new Moxey A. Rigby is on the way.\r\n\r\nThe new property will be located across the street from the existing apartment complex. The new development will feature: 101 units, each one 25% larger than current units; over 100 resident parking spaces, all elevated above flood levels; multiple elevators; laundry facilities on each floor; two community rooms; a recreation center; high efficient refrigerator, stove and dishwasher in each unit; individually-controlled high efficiency heating and cooling in each apartment; playgrounds; and ADA-compliant apartments.\u00a0\u00a0The \u201cNew Moxey A. Rigby Apartment Community\u201d will be a full flood and storm resilient structure\r\n\r\nResident Heads of Household will ALL receive a Section 8 relocation assistance voucher to move into the \u201cNew Moxey A. Rigby Apartment Community.\u201d Under Section 8, residents will continue to pay no more than 30% of their adjusted gross income.\u00a0 In short, ALL tenants\u2019 rents remains the same, no increase.\r\n\r\nFor tenants who prefer not to move into the \u201cNew Moxey A. Rigby Apartment Community,\u201d Section 8 vouchers will be provided.\u00a0\u00a0 All Section 8 vouchers that are provided are 100% portable to other parts of the country and other properties.\r\n\r\nWe look forward to building a \u201cNew Moxey A.
