On Wednesday, August 30, 2017, the Freeport Housing Authority hosted its 2nd Annual Back To School barbecue. Held at the Moxey Rigby Apartment Complex, it was a beautiful afternoon to enjoy a barbecue and have children pick up a new backpack with school supplies to start off the new school year.

Executive Director John Hrvatin focused on the importance of education, noting that “Nothing is more important than making sure our children have the tools they need to succeed.” Local officials in attendance echoed those sentiments, Dr. Joseph Cattano, Chairman of the FHA Board of Commissioners; Michael Pomerico, President of the Board of Education; Village of Freeport Trustee Debra Mule; Anthony Miller, Vice President of the Board of Education, Vilma Lancaster, Trustee of the Board of Education; and Ronald Ellerbe, Trustee of both the Village of Freeport and the Board of Education.

From all The Freeport Housing Authority, its staff and Board of Commissioners, we wish everyone a safe, happy, healthy, and enjoyable school year.
